Active Copper Cable for the Enterprise Market Developing the CABLINE®-CA IIEQ PLUS 112G (2024/Sep/24)

Background


In recent years, high-speed transmission in servers, switches, and other enterprise telecommunications equipment has been advancing at a rapid pace, and this has increased the need to improve the signal integrity (SI) performance of components used in each system. To meet this demand, I-PEX is developing an active copper cable (ACC) solution called CABLINE®-CA IIEQ PLUS 112G that supports 4 lanes of 112 Gbps PAM4 high-speed transmission.
This product will be exhibited at OCP 2024 to be held in San Jose, California, USA from October 15 to 17, 2024.

Product Features


CABLINE®-CA IIEQ PLUS 112G is a space-saving product concept while supporting high-speed transmission at 112 Gbps PAM4. With a height of 2.0 mm and a width of 30.95 mm, the compact design minimizes the overall footprint. Cables used for internal connections in servers and switches are generally thicker and stiffer than 36 AWG to reduce the insertion loss. However, large, bulky cables obstruct the airflow, which is essential for cooling the equipment. Since this product performs as well as 36 AWG cables but uses 38 AWG cables, it improves the airflow within the equipment, leading to better heat dissipation and enhanced cooling. Thin cables also offer the advantage of high flexibility, which facilitates wiring inside the equipment. This product has a linear equalizer inside the module to reduce transmission loss and achieve 112 Gbps PAM4 high-speed transmission.
