In recent years, device makers are paying much more attention to slimmer designs,  which requires more innovative ideas to fit components in these much smaller spaces. There are various types of connectors, making it is necessary to find and select the most suitable connectors when developing new devices. Here is an introduction of the features related to the difference in the mating direction of small connectors used for internal connection of electronic devices.

The Clockwork team is dedicated to designing and developing open source portable devices. DevTerm and GameShell are its main representative products.  DevTerm is an open source portable terminal for each developer, with the I-PEX MHF^® I RF Connector on the motherboard, which connects to the antenna. GameShell is an open source portable console that connects the motherboard to the screen using I-PEX CABLINE^®-VS and CABLINE^®-VSF FPC Connectors for data transmission. i-Fit^® is a unique solderless terminating technology used in the I-PEX micro RF coaxial connector (MHF^®) series. The solderless production process helps to stabilize the electrical characteristics of the RF jumper harness.

The I-PEX MHF^® I LK Connector is the industry's first micro RF coaxial connector with a mechanical lock. This has an additional lock covering the MHF^® I Plug which helps improve retention force and enhances signal connection reliability. This solution is widely adopted by many customers especially for applications where vibration and shock are expected. 

I-PEX pioneered the development of connectors that efficiently connect micro-coaxial cables and provide stable quality. In 1996, I-PEX announced the world's first micro-coaxial connector “CABLINE^® I” for digital signal differential transmission. Since then, the micro-coaxial cable connection method became popular in consumer applications such as notebook PCs. I-PEX will continue to innovate and expand our micro-coaxial product line.

Solderless press-fit type connectors are commonly used in the PCB based assembly process. Whereas conventional connectors are soldered directly on the board, press-fit connectors can be mounted using a simple press-fit method, which simplifies the process. This reduces manufacturing costs by eliminating the solder mounting process. However, the press-fit method could cause damage to the PCB and requires great press force for mounting. In order to solve these problems, I-PEX offers a completely new concept terminal: the ISFIT series.
